Sandee Hamilton

Hi there!

I'm Sandee (aka Crazy Lady)! As you can probably tell, I have quite the passion for life. This began as an adventure in road trips, but has turned into so MUCH more. I love road trips and now have Natasha (my 2002 190P Road Trek), because getting there is half the fun and always such an adventure. I have visited all 48 contiguous states (by road, and am driving to Alaska this summer) and can't wait to share my experiences with you!

It all started in 1974 with a long distance road trip from Pennsylvania to California. I arrived in the evening and saw my first palm tree and the Pacific Ocean and that image has always stayed with me. There have been many miles in between, and each one makes me more curious to see what else this beautiful country has to offer.

When I was 25, I drove with my 2-year-old daughter from Florida to New Jersey then across Pennsylvania to visit family. For years I would drive back and forth to PA. But, at 35, I took a trip that changed my life. I took my daughter Meghan (12), Edwin (12), and Stephanie (15) (my Venezuelan kids from my sister from another mother) to Colorado Springs. At one point during that trip, I called my husband and told him I didn't think I could continue because the San Juan Mountains were too much. But with his encouragement, and the kids saying "you got this, mom," I pushed through.

Now, a little of the personal stuff. I live in Florida, but was born in Pennsylvania - northern girl at heart, am  53 and have been married for 32 years. My daughter is 30 (engaged and planning a wedding in Italy with a wonderful man), and my son is 16 (soon to be 17, loves road trips as much as I do, and is doing a lot of the driving now). He has actually traveled to as many states as I have! I also have Dale, who has been in my life for 20 years, and he is my bonus son (because God gives us enough love to go around, and we adopted each other many years ago), he has a mom who loves us too, and a beautiful wife, my daughter-in-love Shaniel, and our beautiful granddaughter Milaina.

I went back to college in 2013, but life happens and I haven't finished my degree quite yet. At 24, I got my private pilot's license (which was a whole other adventure). I went to real estate school, worked 13 years in a funeral home, sold PartyLite candles, and helped my friend open a 2nd hand shop. I am strong in my faith, love to learn and, as you may have guessed, I hate being bored.

In March 2021, we found a neuroendocrine tumor on my pancreatic tail. In April 2021, we found out I had pancreatic cancer. I have journaled in my blog about my journey. It is raw, and real, which is how I communicate. Due to Covid restrictions, I was physically alone every step of this adventure, but God was with me every minute, every CT Scan, every blood work, every hospital experience. Many times I've asked why I am the lucky one who gets to keep living. Whatever God's plan for my life, I'm here to be present, to live and love every moment, and to share my adventures. If my stories, my journeys, can help or inspire anyone, then it's all been worth it.

You may be wondering "Why would she name her blog 'Crazy Lady Adventures?'" Well, you can thank my husband for that one. I have heard the question "are you crazy, lady?" come from his mouth more times than I can count. Especially when I took a trip to Pennsylvania and then called him from his cousin's house in Toronto. Or drove those three kids to Colorado with only a tent. Or when, in August 2020, (yes, I know there was a pandemic) I took our son to Seattle because he'd never been to Washington State and he wanted to cross off his 48th state to match me (P.S. he got his 47th state in March 2020).

I'd like to say thank you for joining my journey.  I'm so happy to have you along and can't wait to see where this goes!

 Love,
Sandee
